Ingredients

  • 2 red grapefruits washed and halved horizontally
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2- inch piece crystallized ginger finely minced

Method

  1. Preheat the broiler and adjust the oven rack so the grapefruit will sit approximately 4 inches below the heat source.
  2. Remove any seeds from the grapefruit. Using a grapefruit knife or small serrated knife, carefully cut around the outer edge of the fruit and between the segments, loosening the flesh without piercing the peel.
  3. Arrange the grapefruit halves cut-side up on a rimmed baking sheet. Evenly sprinkle the brown sugar and minced crystallized ginger over the top of each half.
  4. Broil for 4–6 minutes, until the tops are bubbling and lightly caramelized. Serve immediately.
